RIO 28 Blu Design – Elegance, performance and uncompromising care
The RIO 28 Blu Design combines everything you could ask for from a day cruiser of this size: lively performance, excellent onboard comfort, well-organised spaces and an extremely comprehensive equipment package.
Built in 2011, this Rio 28 is currently presented in excellent condition, thanks to a consistent maintenance programme and numerous upgrades and maintenance works carried out over the years to keep the engines, systems and onboard equipment in excellent working order.
Power is provided by two MerCruiser MCM 4.3L MPI engines rated at 164 kW each, delivering a top speed of approximately 35 knots and a cruising speed of around 24 knots. The engines have approximately 1,100 hours, and their maintenance history represents one of the boat’s strongest features.
Of particular importance, the engines were removed from the boat in 2020 for a complete overhaul. Further maintenance and replacement work was subsequently carried out, including seawater pumps in 2022, thermostats in 2022, risers in 2019, stern drives serviced in 2024, idle air adjustment components in 2021 and water pressure sensors in 2022.
The attention to detail goes well beyond the mechanical systems. Numerous onboard systems and accessories have also been renewed or upgraded over the years, making this Rio 28 a particularly well-equipped boat that is ready to be enjoyed without major work to be scheduled.
The electronics package includes a Lowrance HDS 9 Live GPS/fishfinder, Raymarine autopilot, VHF, SmartCraft, trim, flaps and compass. The electrical system includes a battery charger, inverter and dedicated batteries for the different onboard functions, while the electric windlass makes anchoring operations simple and convenient.
The interior has been designed to provide excellent comfort both for day trips and longer stays on board. The boat is equipped with an electric toilet, interior and exterior shower, boiler, refrigerator, gas cooker, TV, Hi-Fi system and black-water holding tank.
In the cockpit, the electric table allows the space to be easily adapted to different uses, while the large bathing platform and side walkway in solid teak, refurbished in 2019, provide both elegance and practicality.
Particular attention has also been paid to the boat’s exterior appearance. The hull sides were repainted in 2021, while the underwater hull treatment was carried out in 2024. The interior and exterior upholstery is in excellent condition, completing a carefully maintained and welcoming onboard environment.
With a capacity of 8 people, a 350-litre fuel tank and a 200-litre freshwater tank, the Rio 28 Blu Design is equally suited to relaxed day trips with family and friends or longer cruises, offering an excellent balance of performance, range and comfort.
The boat has been regularly serviced and is ready for the 2027 season.
